about

PHYSICAL RECORDS available via GAMESOMNIVOROUS.COM

ELECTRIC MANGROVE presents a unique RPG experience packaged in the form of a music LP vinyl. At first glance, it appears to be an ordinary record, but once opened, it unveils a captivating roleplaying game universe. The gatefold cover serves a dual purpose, functioning as both the Game Master screen and housing a gaming booklet filled with detailed descriptions, tools, and in-universe locations for players to explore with their preferred fantasy game.

However, this RPG setting goes beyond mere aesthetics and mechanics—the music itself forms the core of the experience. While it can be used as a soundtrack, its significance extends much further. The music narrates an imaginary exploration of the Mangrove, inviting players to listen and immerse themselves in the sounds, smells, textures, flora, factions, and creatures that inhabit the tropical swamp. Within this setting, you'll encounter alien robots, mutated plants and animals, electric eels and pirañas, a Mage turned into a cubist contraption, as well as otherworldly structures and ancient dungeons!

Released under the Dead Robotz collective, Electric Mangrove follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, Death Robot Jungle and Putrescence Regnant. The former was a tropical sci-fi RPG setting, while the latter—an experimental doom metal LP RPG-setting for MORK BORG—was a collaborative effort with Stockholm Kartell and Ockult Örtmästare Games. Electric Mangrove continues the tradition established by Death Robot Jungle, exploring tropical sci-fi realms and blending music from South America, the Caribbean, and Africa with bizarre elements, immersive sound design, and an abundance of analog synths. Prepare to encounter a fusion of genres, including psychedelic cumbia, bolero, funaná, raw funk, 70s electronic music, and experimental sound design.

Whether you choose to simply enjoy the music or delve into the Electric Mangrove as a character within your favorite fantasy roleplaying game, the choice is yours.
